Wegmans And Unions Meet In The Middle

Wegmans and union truckers and warehouse workers have reached a tentative agreement over stalled contract talks.
The supermarket chain and some 900 International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 118 member have been involved talks for several months over renewal of an agreement that expired last spring.
The announcement was made Monday that the two sides came to terms after restarting talks last Friday and concluding them over the weekend.
A major issue was the union’s pension fund, which Wegmans proposed pulling out of and putting Teamsters into a company sponsored retirement plan. Neither side is releasing details of the tentative agreement.
