Employment in the Rochester market has remained flat for 10 years ending in 2012. In fact, it even declined somewhat over the past five years. In all, a report issued Friday by the state Comptroller shows that Rochester area employment is still lagging, while state and national figures show slow increases.
Provate sector jobs in the local market grew 0.25 percent from 2002 to 2012, despite a 26.4 percent decline in goods-producing jobs. Government jobs locally dropped by 1.2 percent.
