A report compiled by the New York State Comptroller and released Thursday says the New York Power Authority pays 35 employees $100,000 or more annually, spent $2.4 million last year to match worker contributions to its 401(k) program, and reported debt of $1.75 billion.
The report also shows that this year’s state budget includes $90 million from the New York Power Authority to help balance the budget.
The report goes on to say that the state regularly relies on the power authority for budget relief, and that could pose future challenges for the authority to deliver low-cost power.
