GANNETT REPORTS DIP IN PROFITS

On Monday, Gannett Co. Inc. reported a 5.2 percent dip in profits for the second quarter.
The parent of the Democrat & Chronicle and USA Today newspapers reported net income of $113.6 million compared with $119.9 million in the second quarter of 2012.
Revenue for the second quarter was flat at $1.3 billion.
Gannett is making plans to acquire Belo Corp. and its television stations for $1.5 billion. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.
