EPA SAYS TRUST FUND MAY NOT COVER IT

The EPA now says a $49 Million trust fund for remediation at Eastman Business Park may not be enough.
In a filing Tuesday with U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the US Environmental Protection Agency said it had “significant concerns” about the proposed fund’s ability to fulfill the requirements of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976.
In it’s filing, the EPA stated that it’s authorized to terminate state-issued permits and take enforcement actions related to the business park, the Genesee River and any other nearby contamination.
